The Department of Chemical Engineering of the K.U.Leuven is the largest Chemical Engineering Department in Belgium. Chemical Engineering is very relevant for the industry in Belgian industry, the broader area of the port of Antwerpen being the second largest petrochemical complex in the world. Research in the Department of Chemical Engineering is organized in three divisions: the Division of Chemical and Biochemical Process Technology and Control, the Division of Applied Physical Chemistry and Environmental Technology and the Division of Applied Rheology and Polymer Processing.
